Pyro Green-Gas Enclosed Gas Flare AST-EFF have a capacity of 150 Nm3/h to 3,000 Nm3/h, larger sizes are available as engineered units using the same design as the standard Pyro Green-Gas enclosed flame flares.
Biogas is a mixture of methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) with impurities such as water vapor, hydrocarbons, siloxanes, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), and organic sulfur. Biogas is toxic, odorous, explosive and most of all a very potent greenhouse gas and as such must not be vented into the atmosphere.
One major source of biogas is municipal solid waste landfills, as these landfills receive a large amount of organic waste, substantial amounts of biogas (landfill gas) is generated by the biological degradation of this mass of organic waste. Most jurisdictions have mandated the capture of landfill gas at the source and the destruction of that landfill gas through enclosed flame flares.
As biogas is more and more valorized as a renewable energy source, the destruction of biogas through enclosed flame flares is only required in case of biogas production in excess of the capacity of the biogas purification system and or during the maintenance of the biogas purification or utilization system.
Enclosed flame flares when properly sized and designed provide full combustion of the combustible gases in the biogas. With a 1000°C combustion temperature and minimum retention time of 0.3 seconds, enclosed flame flare provides the best available control technology (BACT), and should be used for all biogas venting applications.
For AD biogas applications enclosed flame flares are used to burn excess biogas from the process as well as to burn the full biogas production while the downstream biogas valorization system is stopped for maintenance or emergency conditions.
The exhaust gas emissions meet the most stringent North American environmental requirements. This is achieved with combustion temperatures between 1000C and 1200C. The patented high mix, low NOx burner provides the lowest NOx emissions available on the market.
The combustion performance is automatically regulated by a PLC control system with optimum combustion temperature and gas mix. All controls are integrated in a weatherproof NEMA4 cabinet.
The AST-EFF flare is self-contained and pre-mounted on a structural steel skid as well as pre-wired and pre-piped for easy installation and start-up.
All the components of the AST-EFF enclosed flame flare are CSA and UL-approved and the complete flare system receives a CSA inspection after installation at the site and the corresponding certificate.
For landfill gas applications enclosed flame flare have been required for years for the destruction of landfill gas emissions.
As more and more landfill gas is valorized through the production of electricity or the production of renewable natural gas (RNG), enclosed flame flares are used for emergency conditions and for excess gas situation.
The Pyro Green-Gas AST-EFF high-temperature gas flare provides safe and environmentally friendly combustion of landfill gas. Burning landfill gases reduces by at least 20 times the emission of greenhouse gases from the landfill site.
