CHP is a reliable, cost-effective option for waste water treatment plants. The biogas flow from an anaerobic digester can be used as fuel to generate electricity and heat in a combined heat &
power system. The thermal energy produced by the cogeneration system can then be used to meet digester heat loads and for facility electricity, heating or cooling.

Hale Avenue Resource Recovery Facility – Escondido, California

This 800 kW CHP system utilizes digester gas from the wastewater treatment process to generate renewable electricity and heat for the facility’s operations. As a result of this new system, all the biogas produced by HARRF’s anaerobic digestors, which was previously flared, is now utilized to generate sustainable green energy.
