Meet face-to-face with high level industry representatives, researchers and policymakers in the capital of Europe

Brussels, 8 October 2021 – The European Biogas Conference 2021 is taking place as a physical event in Brussels on 26 and 27 October. With the title ‘Speeding-up climate-neutrality with renewable gas’, this edition will analyse the latest developments in the biogas and biomethane sectors and the impact of the Fit for 55 package launched last summer.

Renewable gases are essential for the defossilisation of the energy sector and the realisation of the EU 2030 climate targets. The EU Green Deal has set the framework for the energy transition and now is the time to turn these goals into reality. The global challenges we are facing can be turned into an opportunity to build future resilience based on sustainability. Through a green recovery, the EU will be able to boost innovation, undertake the restructuring of critical sectors and accelerate the  implementation of climate goals.

Constructive dialogue and knowledge-exchange is critical in this crucial moment. The European Biogas Conference will provide this opportunity to discuss some of the most relevant topics for our industry:

  • What is the role of biomethane in these future energy systems?
  • How can we accelerate the ramp-up of biomethane production enabling the industry to become a key actor in this transition?
  • How can biogas stimulate rural development and help us build a more sustainable and  competitive farming sector?
  • What is needed to unlock the immense potential of biogas in developing circular cities and regions?

Over 40 speakers will tackle the different challenges and opportunities of our sector in the current energy transition. A packed programme with 8 sessions and panel discussions will show new insights on the scale-up of biomethane and the development of the biomethane market. The contribution of green gases to transport and industry decarbonization and the role of the sector in reducing methane emissions will also be on the spotlight during this edition. We will discuss as well the applications of  biogas in the circular economy, latest technologies and end-uses for green gases, as well as ongoing innovative research projects.

Additionally, the 1st edition of the EBA Awards will recognize the efforts of key individuals, companies and projects supporting the development of biogas and biomethane in Europe. The winners will be announced during the gala dinner that will take place the 1st day of the conference. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the stands of some of the key stakeholders working on this industry or explore our LNG truck, ready to run on bioLNG and support the decarbonization of heavy-duty transport in Europe.

The conference has become a landmark event for the biogas sector in Europe. This event is usually  attended by high-level representatives from the biogas/biomethane industry, together with other  stakeholders involved in the whole value chain, European trade associations, members of the academia  and European policymakers. The event will be fully compliant with COVID measures and restrictions, including the request of the EU COVID Certificate to attend the conference.
