Retrospective Over Methalac’s Ten Years of Biogas Activities

By | 2023-03-23

A strong growing company with an international vision

Methalac celebrated in September 2022 the culmination of ten years of activities that marked the development of renewable energies in Europe. From its creation in 2012 until today, Methalac has designed and installed more than 60 biogas plants currently in operation in Europe, representing 25MW of installed power and 50 employees. Methalac’s turnover reached 15 million euros in 2021 and 17 million in 2022.

Methalac’s 10 year anniversary took place at Château de Tresserve, on the banks of Lac du Bourget. Laurent Pauchard, founder and CEO of the Group Methalac, went back to the beginnings of the company and the strong values that made it grow all these years to the most recent accomplishment along with more than 200 partners, customers, suppliers, and employees gathered for this event.

The development of the biogas industry in Europe is still young and in full evolution as well as the group, which does not hesitate to innovate. The first years were devoted to cogeneration technologies with production of heat and electricity. Since 2017, Methalac has specialized in injection units on the gas network with biogas upgrading to biomethane. Recently, Methalac conceptualized biogas unit expansion projects of agricultural anaerobic difgesters in operation and has also specialized in foodwaste projects with pasteurization to enhance the treatment of organic waste from the agro-industrial sectors. The group is also a pioneer on small anaerobic digestion with patented technology for the development of flexible tank solutions applied to biogas production.

Laurent Pauchard makes it a point of honor to be an active player in the biogas industry at the European level (ADEME, GRDF, France Gaz…) and at the international level (American Biogas Council, Canadian Biogas Association, Biogas World, RNG Coalition) in order to defend the interests of the industry. Methalac has also witnessed the announcement of the new European Parliament directive, during the European Biogas Conference 2022, which has just come into force, to set the milestone of 35BCM of biomethane produced on European soil by 2030.

With ten years of expertise, Methalac continues its international development and announces the creation of its subsidiary in the United States as well as the opening of its project representation offices in Canada and Spain.
