On May 5, 2015, UPS became the largest user of renewable natural gas in shipping industry in United States. It represents a milestone for transport with renewable natural gas (RNG ).
The agreement between UPS and Clean Energy will allow UPS to replace approximately 1,5 million gasoline gallons equivalents (GGE ) per year. This means that almost 400 UPS vehicles will refuel at 3 RNG stations in California.
This advance in the RNG opens the door for conversion of over 2,500 natural gas vehicles already own by UPS to the RNG .
The company has a goal of driving one billion miles using its alternative fuel and advanced technology fleet by the end of 2017.
1,5 millions GGE = reduction of 15 048 tonnes of CO2 per year
