Private and public sector thought leaders to convene at October 10 event.

September 25th, 2018, Portland, Oregon — Organizers of the GoGreen Conference announced the program line-up for the annual GoGreen Portland Conference event taking place on October 10th, 2018 at the Gerding Theater in downtown Portland, Oregon. The conference, co-presented by the City of Portland and Sustainability at Work, will feature regional innovators, entrepreneurs and sustainability champions who will share their stories and reinforce the ultimate goal of increasing sustainability in business to create a healthier company, economy and climate.

An Oregon focused cap-and-invest program, like the one outlined in the current Clean Energy Jobs Bill being proposed, can provide strategic investments in rural communities and the state’s diverse natural and working lands to promote climate change adaptation, develop clean energy, support local economies, and generate new revenue streams. A panel of experts will be discussing creating such a program in the session Home Grown Solutions: Harnessing Oregon’s Natural Resource Economy for Climate Change Response. Speakers include Tera Hurst, Executive Director of Renew Oregon, Don Sampson, Climate Change Project Director at the Affiliate Tribes of Northwest Indians, and Dylan Kruse, Director of Government Affairs & Program Strategy at Sustainable Northwest.

Prominent local business leaders Ashley Henry from Business for a Better Portland, Founder & CEO of Bamboo Sushi Kristofor Lofgren, Laura Whipple of Scout Books and Maria Garcia of Revolución Coffee House will lead a discussion on how smaller sized socially-minded businesses are capitalizing on the benefits and significant opportunity of the “three legged stool” of sustainability with efforts in carbon reduction, policy advocacy work, community engagement and more in the session Beyond the Office Walls: Real World Commitments to Social, Environmental and Economic Justice.

The session Unleashing Collaborative Intelligence and Creating Highly Effective Teams to Achieve a Regenerative Future will explore the why and how of creating integrated teams with strong, healthy communication and the ability to overcome the difficulties and roadblocks commonly seen in the pursuit of sustainable goals. Speakers include Erica Dunn, Director of Design at Green Hammer, Alex Boetzel, Director of Operations and Sustainability at Green Hammer, Lena Ashby, Senior Project Manager at Brightworks Sustainability and Julie Huffaker, Consultant at Deeper Funner Change.
